A local television news anchor resigned from his position this week after he was accused of seeking sex with a 15-year-old girl.

KTBS anchor and news director Bill Lunn resigned on Monday after he was reportedly caught in an amateur predator sting by a group of men posing as a 15-year-old.

According to Lunn’s former news network KTBS, Shreveport Police launched an investigation into the anchor last week after he claimed to have been assaulted at his Louisiana home.

“Police said they began investigating and determined that is not what happened,” reported KTBS. “Instead, three men at the house who were conducting their own sting operation provided contradicting information to police. They accused Lunn of sending inappropriate text messages and photos to what he thought was an underage teenage girl.”

The amateur predator hunters told local news that Lunn sent pictures to them and made “explicit” conversation, despite them claiming to be a 15-year-old girl. They also claimed Lunn was trying to meet with the girl when was confronted and made the assault report to police.

Lunn has denied the accusations.

“Mr. Lunn has cooperated with authorities and vehemently denies any allegations of wrongdoing,” said the anchor’s attorney in a statement. “It is our hope that after a thorough review of all the evidence surrounding this matter that Mr. Lunn will be shown to be innocent and cleared of all allegations.”
