Louisiana Pastor Thinks There’s a Conspiracy to ‘Destroy’ Kissing Congressman

Congressman Vance McAllister hasn’t garnered that many defenders after the video of him kissing a staffer went public (hence the media nickname “kissing congressman”), but a Louisiana pastor is speaking out now alleging a “conspiracy” being plotted to take him down that involves a number of state officials. Christian Life Church pastor Danny Chance told The News Star that he learned a local district office manager leaked the video, but not before showing it to a GOP state legislator and another individual who worked for a former Republican congressman.

Chance didn’t defend McAllister at all, but he did say, “I just feel like there is a conspiracy to bring Vance down and destroy him. For someone on his staff to do that is wrong.” The people Chance names, State Senator Mike Walsworth and Jonathan Johnson, both denied they knew about the video ahead of time.

“It’s an absolute lie,” Walsworth said. “He knows it’s not true. I can’t believe a minister would outright lie like that. Maybe I didn’t go to his church as often as he wanted. I didn’t see that video until (Monday) like everybody else.”

“It’s the craziest thing I’ve heard in my life,” Johnson said. “The bottom line is it’s ridiculous. They’re looking for someone to take the blame to get the attention off of them, and I guess they’re looking for me to take the fall, but I didn’t see the video until (Monday).”

Chance claims he can provide witnesses to corroborate his version of events.
